I have many students who are professional circus artists, arguably some of the fittest people in the world. They find that the focus on body awareness helps them train smarter, working with the body instead of imposing on it.
Other students of mine like to, for instance, go for a run or work out in a gym on a fairly regular basis, maybe building up to a marathon or 2 during the year. They find my classes are a great way to complement their training, as the gentle movements help unwind any tension points, while the deep pelvic work helps increase range of motion and movement efficiency.
I gave a succestful "Core Connection for Runners" class in Manhattan last year, and am about to do another class at the London running store, Run and Become.
I have older students who want to maintain or improve their mobility, and students who have desk-bound jobs, who find that gyrokinesis® classes help them re-connect with their body, improving posture and eliminating back pain.
